Toddler drowns in day care goldfish pond

MILLVILLE, N.J. — Authorities say it appears a toddler accidentally drowned in a New Jersey day care center’s goldfish pond.

The Daily Journal of Vineland reports that the 15-month-old boy was found around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday at Sunshine Day Care in Millville. The child’s name has not been released.

Authorities say the day care center’s owner, a 58-year-old woman, was caring for six children and was inside tending to one of them when the boy wound up in the pond.

After realizing a child was missing, the woman found the boy in the foot-deep goldfish pond.

The day care center has been closed while police investigate.
