Topless woman protests plastic surgeon with ‘Frankenstein’ sign

A Phoenix, Ariz., woman was turning a lot of heads outside a meeting of the Arizona Medical Board today, even if she wasn’t winning over their minds.
Amy Ashcroft protested topless as a way to bring attention to Dr. William Leighton, a plastic surgeon she claims botched her breast operation.
The procedure, she says, left her scarred and in permanent pain.
“I was a wreck,” Ashcroft said of her experience after the 2012 surgery. “I had trouble working. I had pain. I couldn’t do anything really. I was really actually suicidal.”
Ashcroft filed a complaint against Leighton with the state medical board. However, the 12-member board today dismissed it, taking no action against the doctor.
Leighton did not attend the hearing and was unavailable for comment. But his attorney, Ian Neale, says his client feels vindicated by the board’s decision.
“Her behavior towards Dr. Leighton throughout has been designed to damage if not destroy his reputation,” Neale said in a written statement.
Officials with the board said its still looking into 15 cases pending against Leighton.
Regardless, Ashcroft says she won’t give up the fight against him.
“I’m not going to stop until he retires or his medical license is withdrawn,” she said.
