The Department of Early Day Care and Learning said a day care in Snellville, Ga., that was unlicensed has been shut down after authorities raided the home and seized guns and drugs.
Gwinnett County police raided a home Nov. 20 in the 4500 block of Ashington Drive and found guns, cash, counterfeit currency, drugs, and packaging material.
A spokesperson with the Department of Early Day Care and Learning told CBS46 the kids were at risk since the day care is unlicensed and was not subject to an inspection twice a year. The spokesperson also stated it is not illegal to have guns at a day care.
"The rules about guns in a family day care home states 'firearms shall be stored so that they are inaccessible to children,'' said the official.
Police say much of the contraband seized was taken from rooms adjacent to the room used for the day care.
Kinshasa Ray, the 37-year-old woman who ran the day care, was taken into custody Sunday. She bonded out of jail Monday morning.
