A convicted sex offender in Utah was arrested Monday after he allegedly stole a school bus and drove around trying to pick up children.
Patrick Fredricksen, 30, was booked at Emery County jail in central Utah with two counts of theft of a vehicle and attempted child kidnapping, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
Fredricksen was working for a landscaping company Monday installing sod when he walked away and allegedly stole an SUV which he drove until he found a parked school bus.
“After stealing the school bus and using a list he found in the bus containing names and directions, Fredricksen attempted to pick one child up at her home and was asking directions to a second child’s home,” according to a sheriff’s office news release.
After being booked, Fredricksen was also charged with damaging a jail cell after he broke a water pipe in his holding cell, flooding a portion of the jail, according to WSB-TV.
Fredricksen was placed on Utah’s Sex Offender Registry in 2004 after pleading guilty to a third-degree felony unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
