Professor Joe, our man getting the Review-Journal archives in order, sent along this 1968 advertisement of Harry Reid running for the state Assembly. Here he is at the beginning of his political career. Now, he's one of the most powerful politicians in the world -- leader of the United States Senate.

Just to be fair, get a load of your favorite newspaper publisher in this photo. Taken just after leaving Las Vegas in 1980 to become the editor of the Hawaii Tribune-Herald in Hilo. Note the cup of coffee in my hand. Some things don't change.
