While people suffer, Sen. Reid blames others

You don't believe me? Take a look at this statement by Sen. Reid, D-NV, after unemployment ticked up to 9.2% this morning.

The fault isn't with Sen. Reid, who runs Congress, or with President Obama or anything the Democrats have done. It's those mean and nasty minority Republicans who are the problem.

It's days like this that make it hard to be from Nevada.

Reid Statement On June Employment Report

July 8, 2011

Washington, D.C. - Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement in response to the news that the private sector added 57,000 jobs in June:

"I hope the news that our economy is not creating jobs at an acceptable rate will cause Republicans to start taking job creation seriously. So far this year, Republicans have derailed every common-sense, bipartisan jobs bill we have brought to the floor. Democrats will continue to fight to put Americans back to work and we hope Republicans will join us.”

"Today's news also reminds us that we need to reduce the deficit in a way that will not dampen job creation. That means taking a balanced approach in which millionaires and billionaires contribute to deficit reduction. Most of all, we need to make sure we avoid the economic catastrophe that would result from letting the United States fail to pay its bills for the first time in our history. This would cause the markets to plummet and harm the economy as Americans see their savings and retirement funds depleted. That is something the middle class cannot afford."
