Woman who drowned puppy in airport gets probation

A woman who drowned a 3-week-old puppy at a Nebraska airport was sentenced to two years of probation.

Cynthia Anderson, 57, of Edgewater, Fla., pleaded no contest to the crime in May and was convicted of cruel neglect of an animal resulting in death. On Thursday, she pleaded for mercy and apologized in court, NBC News reported.

On Jan. 23, she was barred from a flight at Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island, Neb., because the Doberman puppy was so young. Police said she was seen entering a restroom and shortly after another woman discovered a dead puppy in a toilet.
