Woman’s FitBit watch disproves her rape story

A woman who said she was raped by an intruder while sleeping in her boss’ home was charged after police said her FitBit fitness watch disproved her claims.
Jeannine Risley, 43, of Saint Petersburg, Fla., was in Pennsylvania for work and was sleeping in the guest house of her boss’ home, WHTM reported. She said on March 10 a man attacked her in the bathroom and raped her at knifepoint.
Risley’s FitBit watch, found in a hallway near the bathroom, showed she had been awake and walking around at the time she said she was sleeping.
A criminal complaint also stated evidence did not add up to her story, including a lack of footprints in snow and no signs of an intrusion. Police said she had placed a knife under furniture to make it appear she had been attacked.
Risley is facing charges of false report to law enforcement, false alarms to public safety and tampering with evidence.
