YOUR WEEKEND: Meet a young author and get pet photos with Santa

It's become a holiday tradition to take kids to have their photo taken with Santa, but what about your furry friends?

On Dec. 7, you can get your pet's photo taken with Santa and meet Manika Ward (right), the 16-year-old author of “The Exciting Adventures of Boo," at the Galleria at Sunset mall. Read more about Manika here.

Manika will be signing copies of her book, which can be purchased for a discounted price of $20. All proceeds from the book sales will benefit the Nevada SPCA. Manika will be signing books from 5-7 p.m. next to the Santa display.

Pet owners also can bring their pets for a photo with Santa.

The Boulevard Mall, Fashion Show and Meadows mall also offer pet photos for dogs and cats on Mondays through Dec. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. At the Boulevard Mall, Santa will be at Brookstone Court. At the Meadows mall, Santa will be at the Sears Court. And at the Fashion Show, Santa will be located outside Nordstrom.
