LVCVA is facing a growing scandal over airline gift cards. LVCVA bought $90,000 in Southwest Airline gift cards between 2012 and 2017. Now auditors can’t account for more than $50,000 of the cards. CEO Rossi Ralenkotter and his family used $16,207 in gift cards on 56 trips. Brig Lawson, the senior director of business partnerships, was responsible for buying and distributing the cards. He recently resigned.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ to Cross $1 Billion Mark And it will have done so faster than any other film in history. The Anthony and Joe Russo directed film has only been in theaters for eight days since its Apr. 27 release, and it’s already raked in $905.1 million at the worldwide box office, including $338.4 million in North America. It will reach the milestone faster than ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ which took 12 days to cross over the $1 billion threshold. ‘Infinity War’ is the 34th film to cross $1 billion at the global box office, not accounting for inflation.
City officials have big plans for Henderson. They envision a suburban utopia filled with plenty of open spaces, parks, community gardens and access to all modes of transportation. The city is projected to have 100,000 new residents in the next 20 years. Henderson is the second-largest city in Nevada, with an estimated population of more than 300,000. The Love Store will open a new location this week next to the downtown Community Healing Garden, which was created in the four days that followed the Oct. 1 Las Vegas shooting. The store, located near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Third Street, will employ 30 people, owner Edward Wheeler said. This is the fifth Love Store, with three around the valley and one in Victorville, California. Officials approved the architectural plans for the store in July, according to city records. Love Store received a certificate of occupancy on Oct. 11. Some who work in the arts district disagree with having a store that sells sex-related items next to a memorial for shooting victims. Las Vegas Valley artist Nancy Good, who has held exhibits in the arts district, said the combination will turn into a punchline.

1. A flight bound for New York made an emergency landing at McCarran this morning after one of its engines caught fire. Delta Flight 1057 departed from McCarran about 11:10 p.m. Tuesday night, before landing at 12:45 a.m. No injuries were reported, and the flight was expected to leave this morning.
2. The man accused of kidnapping a California woman was arrested Tuesday night, after the woman was found Monday night at Railroad Pass Casino. Virginia Paris’ ex-boyfriend Joseph Hetzel was arrested after police found a stolen vehicle from Mesquite near East Bruner Avenue. He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center and faces felony kidnapping and stalking charges.
3. Clark County commissioners voted to ban both possession and advertisement of marijuana at McCarran International Airport on Tuesday. The ban extends to all airport-owned property throughout Clark County, including parcels leased to private businesses. The ban does not apply to to vinyl-wrapped advertising on taxis and personal vehicles picking up or dropping off passengers.
