Residents of Las Haciendas Apartments in North Las Vegas have been evicted.

A spokesman for the city said the majority of people living there were not paying rent, their leases had expired, there were fraudulent leases, or they were squatters. He also said the building is known for gang activity, drug activity, and prostitution.

The city identified several code issues with the property.

A family-owned company has filed a lawsuit against Republic Services of Southern Nevada.

Simple ESG alleges that Republic is actively trying to push Simple ESG out of business by charging a premium to use the only landfill in the Las Vegas metro area — which Republic owns.

Republic has an exclusive franchise agreement with all municipalities in Southern Nevada.

It’s been about a month since Steve Wynn stepped down as chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts.

Nevada’s Gaming Control Board announced it will strengthen regulations on sexual harassment policies.

And two lawsuits against Wynn for sexual harassment have reached Clark County District Court. Also, five derivative lawsuits have been filed by investors who say Wynn’s actions and the board’s lack of response devalued their holdings.

Investigations are continuing in Nevada, Massachusetts and Macau.

Love Store opening next to Las Vegas shooting healing garden

The Love Store will open a new location this week next to the downtown Community Healing Garden, which was created in the four days that followed the Oct. 1 Las Vegas shooting. The store, located near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Third Street, will employ 30 people, owner Edward Wheeler said. This is the fifth Love Store, with three around the valley and one in Victorville, California. Officials approved the architectural plans for the store in July, according to city records. Love Store received a certificate of occupancy on Oct. 11. Some who work in the arts district disagree with having a store that sells sex-related items next to a memorial for shooting victims. Las Vegas Valley artist Nancy Good, who has held exhibits in the arts district, said the combination will turn into a punchline.

The Las Vegas massacre is the first mass shooting by a gunman from an elevated position since then.

Authorities now have to worry about how to deal with potential copycat shooters.
