Las Vegas Girls Scouts take part in STEM summer camp

STEM-oriented summer camp company iD Tech has offered weeklong summer tech camps in Nevada for about five years at UNLV, called UNLV Tech Camp. This summer the company launched two other week-long summer tech programs in Nevada: the Alexander Dawson school tech camp, as well as a pilot for an all-girls tech camp called Alexa Cafe.

From their backyard in Las Vegas, Don and Noriko Carroll used high-speed, close-up cameras to capture in photos and slow-motion video what had never been seen before in the wild. Hummingbirds drink nectar not by sipping it like through a straw. Rather they trap it with fringe on their narrow, split tongues and draw the fluid inside their bills by moving their tongues in out at up to 30 times a second.
