Telemachus “Tel” Orfanos, who survived the October 1 shooting in Las Vegas, was killed just over a year later at the Borderline Bar and Grill.
A San Francisco firm has bought three more office buildings in Henderson. JMA Ventures acquired the buildings near Green Valley Ranch Resort for $34 million. The seller, American Nevada Co., has unloaded more than 1 million square feet of commercial real estate the past few years. JMA has been an active buyer, taking nine or 10 office buildings in Henderson.
Billy Stojack, 71, was a mainstay at the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade. The retired firefighter and late Navy SEAL died in 2017, two days before Veterans Day. This year, his adult children established the Billy Stojack Memorial Fund in his honor. Each year, they will honor a veteran in their father’s memory.
Las Vegas has a long history of developers pitching massive projects and never building them. Ideas that have come and gone include megaresorts, stadiums and condo towers. Current stalled ideas include a 27-acre arena and hotel project on the Strip and a 130-acre extreme sports park near Town Square. More than $3.5 billion worth of relatively new projects in Las Vegas are stuck on the drawing board or showing little progress.
Las Vegas apartment rents are climbing at one of the fastest rates in the country. The average asking rent is $1,055, up 25 percent since early 2013, according to Reis Inc. Apartment complexes are also selling fast, and at rising prices. Buyers often plan to renovate the property and boost the rents.

Las Vegas house prices are rising The median sales price of previously owned single-family homes was $295,025 in October. That’s down 1.7% from September but still up 12.2% from October 2017 6,919 houses were on the market without offers at the end of October. The Krausz Cos. and WG Group bought a strip mall and an office park in Las Vegas for nearly $80 million total. They acquired a portion of Tropicana Beltway Center in the southwest valley for $59 million. They also acquired the Westbay office complex in the Las Vegas Medical District. The buyers are former owners of The Gramercy, a once-mothballed mixed-use project in the Las Vegas suburbs. They sold The Gramercy in phases for more than $100 million.
