The 50th anniversary running of the Mint 400 was Saturday . It rained over the course near Primm holding down the dust … … for a little while, at least. When the dust lifted, Bryce Menzies raced to the victory. It was his second Mint 400 overall win. The Las Vegas driver won by 28 seconds — one of the closet finishes in Mint history. Menzies covered three loops of the 118-mile course in 5 hours, 52 minutes.

The Lights FC had its season kickoff party Wednesday at Plaza. The team revealed its white, blue and yellow away kits at the party. A man was shot in the head Tuesday night in what police believe was a botched drug deal. The incident took place on the 4800 block of Nellis Oasis Lane near Lamont Street. The wounded man was taken to a local hospital where he was receiving treatment. He was listed in stable condition. The suspect has not been located.
