Another Dr. Murray fan heard from

Embattled physician Conrad Murray has a lot of things going against him these days. For one, he’s suspected of being connected to the drugs that killed pop superstar Michael Jackson.
But Murray also suffers from a distinct lack of public relations savvy. While the Jackson family has a long history of swimming in a sea of paparazzi and self-promotion, Murray has remained hidden behind his attorneys while law enforcement sorts out the evidence in Jackson’s death.
Murray, who practiced as a cardiologist many years in Las Vegas before closing his office in preparation for service as Jackson’s personnel physician, is not without his fans. I have begun hearing from them in recent weeks.
Estella P. Jones, a 19-year resident, raves about Murray’s professionalism and skill. At 74, Jones has been treated for her heart ailments for eight years. Her husband, David Jones, is also Murray’s patient.
“He’s a great doctor,” Mrs. Jones says. “It’s not just my opinion. When you go to Dr. Murray’s office, it’s always crowded. Dr. Murray is just so gentlemanly. We cannot believe this is happening to him. He’s too good a man for this to happen to him.
“I know he had no intentions of hurting Michael. Dr. Murray has helped a lot of people. He does not take advantage of us.
Following a procedure, Jones described Murray spotting a rupture artery. His expertise, she said, helped prevent her hand from becoming permanently paralyzed.
“He’s not too good that he can’t come to your home,” she said.
He also attended her husband’s 76th birthday, she added.
She describes a dedicated physician who was thorough enough to re-order tests when he saw suspicious results.
On his relationship with Jackson, Jones recalled, “Dr. Murray told me when Michael was living here, ‘I go to Michael’s house when the kids are sick. He gives me TVs. I don’t need TVs. I have my own TVs.’ This is destroying a good man.”
