You know the Las Vegas economy is in trouble when attendees of the annual Consumer Electronics Show (Jan. 8-11) are being courted with bargain-rate rooms, relatively speaking, at Strip properties.
The traditional gouge-fest has been replaced by a price war with some rooms available for under $100. The convention draws apprxomately 100,000 visitors per year to Las Vegas and also generates international attention to the Strip.
