Nevada GOP: One big happy family, part II

Now comes GOP activist Nathan Taylor, who dares to challenge Clark County Republican Party Central Committee Chairman Bernie Zadrowski.

Zadrowski is prepared to call out Republican legislators who failed to hold the line on taxes. To that end, he has sent a missive out to his fellow party members suggesting two things:

“1) For the CCRCC to consider passing a (resolution), in the strongest language possible, condemning the actions of each individual Republican legislator by name who voted for the tax increases, and to condemn each individual Republican legislator who voted to override the governor’s veto.

“2) For the CCRCC to consider passing a resolution, in the strongest language possible, praising the actions of each individual Republican legislator by name who voted against the tax increases, and to praise each one of them for standing behind the Governor and Republican principles in voting against overriding the governor’s veto.”

All well and good, but what if many Republicans don’t agree with Gov. Gibbons and that hard-line conservative political philosophy? Are they not Republicans, or must they endure the endless RINO jabs?

In response, longtime Republican activist Taylor writes,

“Dear Chairman Zadrowski,

“I'm writing you because I'm concerned about your divisive e-mail that calls for a special meeting of Clark County Republican Central Committee--for the purpose of bashing fellow Republicans in the Nevada Legislature!

“I respectfully disagree with this course of action and can only tell you that it will do nothing to help us gain seats in next years election. Senator John Ensign recently took a trip to Iowa and was quoted as saying that moderates and conservatives in the party need to get along. Senator Ensign sounded a lot like President Ronald Reagan when he talked about his "big tent" philosophy.

“We Republicans are not going to agree on every issue, but I believe that we agree on 75% - 80% of public policy issues. Some Republicans are pro-choice, while others are pro-life. Some Republicans support specific social programs, while other may oppose them. Some Republicans are avid Second Amendment Rights Advocates, while others may not feel it's as important.

“If you want to know why the Republicans in Nevada and across the nation have fallen so hard and so fast, you only need to look at the destructive actions of some of its own members. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, and have spent the majority of my adult life involved in Republican politics--it saddens me to see us shooting at each other. So, again I caution you on your decision to pass resolutions that will only serve to divide our party further.”

I don’t think Zadrowski is listening. There’s little room for disagreement in Nevada’s Republican Party these days.
