Pro Tuholski leads USBC Masters qualfying after five games

The first five games of qualifying for this week’s USBC Masters was completed late Tuesday night and the country’s top 452 amateur and professional bowlers get five more games today to make the double-elimination, match-play rounds.

PBA touring pro Craig Tuholski of Washougal, Wash., led after five games with a total of 1,187 pins (237.4 average). The 34-year-old right-hander ended Tuesday’s play with a 289 game and finished eight pins ahead of England's Dominic Barrett.

The top Southern Nevada player was Wendy MacPherson, who won the last PBA Women’s Series title. Henderson’s MacPherson totaled 1,139 (227.8 average) and is tied for 19th.

The field will be cut to the top 25 percent after today with match play set for Thursday and Friday at Cashman Center.

The winner of Sunday’s nationally televised finals will earn $60,000.

Admission is free except for Sunday’s championship rounds. Parking is $3 each day.
