Some green for going green

Sandy S. Miller Elementary School, 4851 E. Lake Mead Blvd., could win $20,000 from Walmart but it needs help from the public.

The school is a national finalist for the "Earth Day, Every Day School Challenge." Its eco-friendly ways are profiled at earthdayeverychallenge.com, where adults 18 and older can also vote for one of 20 nominees.

Voting ends June 19. Miller is the only school from Nevada.

"We could use all 2 million votes," said Chad Hyatt, Miller's magnet school coordinator.
