The 12th annual Make-A-Wish Fashion Show Luncheon took place recently at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in the Forum Shops at Caesars. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Make-A-Wish Executive Director Melissa Warren said the organization granted 500 wishes last year and that each wish costs about $8,000 per child.
More than 300 guests including Nancy Houssels, Jackie Katz, Josie Snow, Debbie Stout, Sandy Tueller, Denise Cashman, Dawn Gibbons, Susan Molasky, Camille Ruvo, Jane Schorr, Sheryl Goldstein and Michael Schulman socialized before a three-course luncheon prepared by chef Eric Klein.
Event chairman was Linda Richardson and committee members were Melissa Akkaway, Kristine Creel, Debbie Swissman, Kimberly Gora, Victoria Otter, Coreen Sawdon, Barbara Stout, Helene Walker and Noey Richardson.
The luncheon’s fundraiser was a prize list where guests purchased opportunity tickets for 44 to-die-for packages. Robin Leach followed by conducting a raise your paddle (at this event it was raise your star) to donate increments of cash to Make-A-Wish of Southern Nevada.
The fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue featured models wearing designer fall fashions accented by bold jewelry pieces. This will be a coat season from trapeze silhouettes to coats with belted princess lines, and round-shouldered jackets. Popular was black leather even showing with lace and fur inserts. Cruise wear, special occasion and winter whites also were included.
Among the designers featured were Roberto Cavalli, Elie Tahari, St. John, Alice + Olivia, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Emporio Armani, Cushnie Et Ochs, Dolce and Gabbana, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Catherine Malandrino, Jose Natorie and Rebecca Taylor.
Seen among the guests enjoying the afternoon were Robyne Townsend, Laura Foust, Carol Lubritz, Elizabeth Foyt, Abby Silverman, Susan Fine, Mari Landers and Amanda Cooper, the Make-A-Wish special child with her family.
