It's not possible to heap enough coals on the heads of those Democrats who rammed through ObamaCare. It's become a nightmare with still unknown thousands of unintended consequences that are downright evil.
It made a good system bad in one fell swoop.
Consider, for example, the woman in Cornelius, Ore., who takes care of her disabled 22-year-old daughter. She has cerebral palsy, spina bifida and automonic dysreflexia.
She requires 24-hour care. Her mother provides it and received $1,400 for it under the current system.
Now comes ObamaCare that prohibits a guardian from serving as a paid caregiver of an adult child with developmental disabilities.
Thanks to Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, that mother in Oregon will be forced to put her child in some kind of foster care or assign her guardianship to another.
The Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan hits the right note when she comments thusly: "No mother or child should be put in this position by a government ostensibly trying to improve their lives. Everyone in America knows health care is a complicated and complex subject, that a national bill will have 10 million moving parts, and that when a government far away — that would be Washington, D.C. — decides to take greater control of the nation’s health care it will likely get many, maybe a majority, of the moving parts wrong."
Smarter heads warned Obama, Reid and Pelosi about this. But they would not listen. They did not even read the bill. They just passed it on blind partisanship.
Now, we're in a mess. Just ask anyone who is going to be forced to give up care of their disabled child under ObamaCare.
PS: The state of Oregon is asking for an exemption to ObamaCare in this instance. Every state will need that. The point is that this is just one of a multitude of "bumps in the road" as the president calls it. To which a majority of Americans now say this road is too bumpy. Let's get on a better road.
