Great Britain’s Sam Holden finishes 9th, eight players left

Great Britain’s Sam Holden was eliminated in ninth place in the World Series of Poker’s Main Event and earned $782,115.

Holden is the only member of the final table who will collect no money for today’s work, however. All nine participants were paid ninth place money back in July.

Holden began the day in 9th place and didn’t seem to catch a break much of the day.

It took 51 hands for the first elimination and the knock out came on the first hand after the day’s second 15-minute break.

Ben Lamb raised Holden to 1.7 million preflop and Holden reraised all in from the small blind for 11.125 million. Lamb called.

Lamb had ace of hearts, king of clubs while Holden had ace-jack of spades.

The flop came down ace of clubs, 9 of clubs, and 8 of clubs. Lamb added the queen of clubs on the turn for his flush and Holden was out.

The hand moved Lamb into third place.
