The Dish: Rio hosting Japanese culture, food event


The fourth annual Aki Matsuri Japanese culture and food event is 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday at the Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road. A number of local restaurants will have booths, and there will be karaoke and cosplay contests, craft vendors and more. Tickets are $8 at the gate, $5 in advance and $5 for members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce; it’s free for kids 8 and younger. The fourth annual Fall Beer Festival at the Golden Nugget, 129 Fremont St., begins Friday with the All American Craft Beer Tasting from 7 to 10 p.m. More than 125 beers will be available for sampling; tickets, which include a commemorative glass, are $50. The Oktoberfest Pool Party from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday is free, with food and beverages available for purchase.
