Terrible’s offers new daily slot tournament

There is a new, free daily slot tournament at Terrible's. Every Players Club member is entitled to three two-minute rounds per day. The rounds can be initiated just by inserting your Players Club card into one of the special Red, White and Blue tournament machines. The top five scorers, based on their cumulative daily scores, will receive prizes ($100, $50, $20 gasoline card, $10 gasoline card and dinner for two in the Bougainvillea Cafe) that can be picked up after 9 a.m. the following day at the casino cage. At 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday, the top 10 weekly scorers (based on their cumulative scores from any rounds played from the previous Tuesday-Monday) will receive prizes up to $500 cash. Winners do not have to be present on Wednesday nights, but they must pick up their prizes within 24 hours.

Through the rest of July, Gold Coast players will receive a 75 percent discount when redeeming their Club Coast points for a buffet and a 50 percent redemption discount at the Cortez Room, Arriva, Monterrey Room, Oyster Bar and Ping Pang Pong.

On Sunday, Santa Fe Station players can receive a $10 Albertson's gift card for every 1,000 Boarding Pass points ($1,000-$2,000 coin-in; no point redemption required) earned on that day, up to a maximum of five cards.

The Cannery bingo room is giving away six cash prizes totaling $1,250 Saturday at the noon and 8 p.m. sessions. There will be two $500 and two $1,000 coveralls at the 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. sessions on both Saturday and Sunday. Can't play this weekend? Then stop by Monday at the 8 a.m., 10 a.m. or noon session and receive a coupon for a free slice of pizza.

Football season begins in September, but beginning Wednesday, you can sign up for the $300,000 Pigskin Payoff Football Contest at the Palms Race and Sportsbook. Throughout the season, you pick the winner of each game (based on score, not the spread), and after 17 weeks, the top 50 pickers will receive between $175 and $10,000 in prizes. The entry fee is $25, but Club Palms members signing up before Aug. 26 will get $10 in free play, and anyone purchasing three entries will receive three additional entries for free.

New ‘The Office’ spinoff takes place at a Midwestern newspaper

“The Office,” a mockumentary that detailed the endearing mundanity of life at Dunder Mifflin, ran from 2005 to 2013. It’s one of those comfort-food series some fans revisit again and again. In 2024 it seems like a time capsule, the last days of 9-to-5 culture before work-from-home upended it all.
