Ron Mackey will sign "Parenting: The Bottom Line" at 1 p.m. today at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.

Herman Rarebell, original drummer for the Scorpions, and co-author Michael Krikorian will sign "And Speaking of Scorpions" at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Hard Rock Store at Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road.

Judy McFadden will sign "Life with McDuff: Lessons Learned from a Therapy Dog" noon-4 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.

Joann Oppenheimer will sign "Potpourri For and About Women" at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.

Leon Logothetis will sign "Amazing Adventures of a Nobody" at 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.


The Vegas Valley Book Festival will present the Feasting on Words Literature and Food Fair hosted by chef Rick Moonen 11 a.m.-3 p.m. today at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. 4th St. Cooking demonstrations with nine local chefs will be offered noon-2 p.m., $10 entry fee to the chefs' plaza will benefit Three Square food bank. An outdoor stage will feature music and readings, a farmers market, beer and wine garden and other activities (229-5431).

The Jewish Book & Arts Festival will present a discussion with Joseph Gelman, co-author of the biography "Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon Arnon Michan" at 11 a.m. Nov. 13 at Midbar Kodesh Temple, 1940 Paseo Verde Parkway, Henderson. The event is free and open to the public (794-0090).

Book Lovers' Bistro meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave.

The Brown Bag Book Club meets at 11 a.m. the second Thursday of the month at the Laughlin Library, 2840 S. Needles Highway.

The Murder in the Library group meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

The Mystery Readers Book Club meets at 6:15 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson.

The Mesquite Club Book Club meets at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at the Mesquite Club House, 702 E. St. Louis Ave., in Las Vegas.


The Henderson Writers Group meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays of the month at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the Running Rebel Plaza, 4550 S. Maryland Parkway; and the first, third and fifth Mondays of the month at Saxby's Coffee Lounge, 72 Horizon Ridge Parkway, Henderson.
