Everyone needs a good breakfast spot — nothing flashy, just a solid, go-to place for homestyle cooking. In North Las Vegas, Harvest Cafe fits the bill. This quiet, unassuming eatery is tucked away inside an aging strip mall along West Craig Road, so it’s easy to miss. The inside is surprisingly spacious, with center tables for those feeling more social or quiet booths lining the walls if you want to savor your meal over a newspaper or book. Breakfast is served all day (waffles until 2 p.m.), and the selections cover all the traditional favorites: pancakes, waffles and French toast, omelettes and skillets, huevos rancheros and breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, and pork chops or steak and eggs. For those who like a sweet breakfast, there’s French toast stuffed with cream cheese and strawberries or blueberries, topped with whipped cream ($8.99), along with banana chocolate chip pancakes, banana caramel French toast and banana split waffle. For heartier fare, the entree menu features classics for around $12 such as country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables, fish and chips made with Icelandic cod, and pot roast with mashed potatoes and vegetables. There’s also a variety of sandwiches (pot roast melt, chicken Parmesan, Italian sausage) and burgers (the Frisco Burger is an Angus burger topped with bacon, grilled onions, mozzarella cheese and Thousand Island dressing on grilled sourdough). Sandwiches and burgers are served with a choice of french fries, potato salad or coleslaw and average $8 to $10. A veggie burger option is available. There are also salads (Greek, balsamic grilled chicken, grilled salmon) and a $7.50 soup and salad combo. Meals on the children’s menu come with a drink. Harvest Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, visit harvestcaferestaurant.com.
