Charles Alleman

Charles Alleman, 82, died Wednesday.

He was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Halifax, Pa. An Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was a retired truck driver and a 25-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his sons, John and Paul, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be from noon until services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary-Eastern. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Amarante Baca

Amarante F. Baca, 89, died Thursday in a local care center.

He was born May 26, 1913, in Blanco, N.M. A retired laborer in construction, he was a 39-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher and Harold, both of Las Vegas; stepson, William Jeantet of Yreka, Calif.; sisters, Sadie Rivas of Seattle and Cordie Martinez of Price, Utah; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Bridget Catholic Church building fund. Palm Mortuary-Downtown handled arrangements.

Elwin Barnum

Elwin Orange Barnum, 73, died Sunday at home.

He was born July 6, 1929, in St. George, Utah. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a longtime resident of Mesquite and worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Elwin of Diamond Valley, Utah, Vicki Haacke of Clinton, Utah, Wesley of Mesquite, Richard of Cedar Valley, Utah, Bruce of Kaysville, Utah, Ronald of Las Vegas, Donald of Syracuse, Utah, and Mark of Altimont, Utah; brothers and sisters, Odean of St. George, Emerald, Theryl and Aschel, all of Las Vegas, and James and Roxie, both of Mesquite; 30 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Whippel LDS Chapel, Mesquite. Burial will follow at the Mesquite City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.

Real Blais

Real "Ray" Blais, 57, died Sunday.

He was born May 10, 1945, in Quebec. A journeyman lineman, he was a five-year resident of Henderson and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha of Henderson; daughters, Gabrielle Burris of Las Vegas and Brigitte Sand of Phoenix; sister, Nicole; and brother, Yvon; both of Quebec.

Visitation will be one hour before services at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary-Eastern.

Delores Chapman

Delores M. Chapman, 77, died Sunday.

She was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Watertown, N.Y. A retired change worker in gaming, she was a 23-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her husband, James of Las Vegas; sons, Thomas of Florida, Jim of Kansas, and Danny, Kenny and Bob, all of Las Vegas; daughter, Lori of California; sisters, Marie and Carol, both of Watertown; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Affordable Cremation & Burial Service.

Richard Dahlen

Richard David Dahlen, 73, died Nov. 25.

He was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y. An Army veteran, he was a retired baker, a two-year resident of Pahrump and a member of the American Legion Post 173.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Pahrump; son, Robert of Phoenix; daughters, Elizabeth Jenkins of Pahrump, Carol Lawrence of Holiday, Fla., and Janice Jarrett of Phoenix; brothers, Robert and James, both of Long Island, N.Y.; sister, Delores Walsh of Holiday; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services are private. Neptune Society of Nye County handled arrangements.

Herbert Doughtery

Herbert M. Doughtery, 83, died Thursday in a local hospital.

He was born Nov. 28, 1919, in St. Louis. A retired Army veteran, he was a resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his sons, Ronald and Donald; daughters, Athena Kochs and Onita; several grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Harrison-Ross Mortuary with services at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Ludie Gates

Ludie M. Gates, 78, died Friday.

She was born April 25, 1924, in Union, Miss. A hotel housekeeper, she was a 42-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her sons, District Court Judge Lee Gates, Ramon McFarland-Gates and James; daughter, Kathryn; all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bunkers Mortuary with services at noon Wednesday at Pentecostal Temple Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jamni Gidwani

Jamni T. Gidwani, 83, died Sunday in a Las Vegas hospital.

She was born April 22, 1919, in Karachi, Pakistan. A homemaker, she was a two-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her daughters, Vimla Lendway of Las Vegas, and Daya Shahani and Lalta Jain, both of Bombay, India; son, Vinod of Glenview, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary-Downtown.

Lenore Hickman

Lenore Hickman, 82, died Sunday.

She was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Fort Morgan, Colo. A homemaker, she was a 70-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of the Senior Citizens Craft Group and Professional Business Women's Association.

She is survived by her son, Ron of Las Vegas; sister, Virginia Richardson of Henderson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour before services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bunkers Mortuary. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Robert Howard

Robert Clifford Howard, 79, died Wednesday in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born April 2, 1923, in Pompeys Pillar, Mont. A retired Air Force veteran who served during World War II and the Korean War, he was a worker for a defense mapping agency of an aeronautical chart and information center, a one-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of Disabled American Veterans and The Retired Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Las Vegas; daughters, Nancy Jones of Tustin, Calif., Donna Frazier of Las Vegas and Mary Negron of Chicago; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary-Jones. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Virginia Kirgis

Virginia Waters Kirgis, 82, died Monday.

She was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Perry, Iowa. A retired data processing clerk, she was an 18-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of Daughters of the Nile.

She is survived by her son, Gary Waters of Las Vegas; and sister, Beverly Halling of Perry.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary-Jones. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Zelzah Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital Fund.

Morris Lackey

Morris Lackey, 80, died Wednesday.

He was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Simms, Ark. An Army and Air Force veteran who served during World War II, he was a worker for a newspaper and a nine-month resident of Pahrump.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Larry and Jerry; all of Pahrump; daughters, Sherrie Lee of Korea and Terrie Okyere of Pahrump; sisters, Rophina Geyer of Temecula, Calif., and Mable Field of Fallbrook, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pahrump Valley Mortuary handled arrangements.

Ralph Lynch

Ralph Prescott Lynch, 35, died Thursday in a North Las Vegas hospital.

He was born Jan. 30, 1967, in California. An Army veteran, he was a worker for a janitorial service and an eight-year resident of North Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Renee; son, Jacob; daughters, Sarah and Alysin; mother, Ruth Woodward; and sisters, Colleen Pfefferle and Diana.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society.

Jeannette McAlearney

Jeannette M. McAlearney, 80, died Friday in a local hospital.

She was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Pocahontas, Iowa. A homemaker, she was a one-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her son, John Jr. of Redlands, Calif.; daughters, Charlotte Iorio and Sharon, both of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jeffery McAvoy Sr.

Jeffery John McAvoy Sr., 47, died Sunday.

He was born May 5, 1955, in Providence, R.I. A construction foreman, he was a seven-year resident of Pahrump and a member of the Pahrump Nine-Ball League.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Pahrump; sons, Nolan Gipson of Fort Hood, Texas, Ronald Gipson and David Brown, both of Pahrump, Tom Gipson of Kelso, Wash.; William of San Diego, Jamie of Chula Vista, Calif., and Jeffery; daughters, Julie of Chula Vista, Kimberly of San Diego and Naomi Polion; mother, Lillian of Pahrump; sisters, Dale Yeend and Terry-Lynn Materese, both of San Diego, and Karen Lashua of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Waterhole Casino, Pahrump. Neptune Society of Nye County handled arrangements.

Robert Meade

Robert L. Meade, 83, died Thursday in a local convalescent hospital.

He was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Groveport, Ohio. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a retired cabinetmaker and finisher, a retired worker for a medical center, a 38-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of Christ The King Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Paula Morgan and Jeni Elam, both of Las Vegas, and Penny Haseltine of Quartz Hill, Calif.; son, Rick; stepdaughter, Diane Hollowinski; both of Las Vegas; sisters, Patty Kallies and Thelma Swonger, both of Groveport; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary-Jones, where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Bunkers Memory Gardens Memorial Park. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Diabetes Foundation.

Joseph Minesal

Joseph J. Minesal, 88, died Sunday.

He was born May 30, 1914, in Milwaukee. A retired firefighter, he was a six-year resident of Henderson.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of Henderson; sons, Tom of Grafton, Wis., Jim of Big Bend, Wis., and Mark of Henderson; and four grandchildren.

Joseph O'Brien

Joseph Edward O'Brien, 75, died Saturday.

He was born April 27, 1927, in New York. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired fireman and a five-year resident of Henderson.

He is survived by his son, Fr. Joseph of Las Vegas; and sister, Rosemary Loeser of Amsterdam, N.Y.

Services will be held in Phoenix. The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Therese Center, P.O. Box 90625, Henderson, NV 89009. Bunkers Mortuary handled arrangements.

Richard Rapp

Richard Rapp, 76, died Nov. 26.

He was born Sept. 11, 1926, in New York. A Marine Corps veteran, he was a pit boss for a casino, a two-year resident of Pahrump and a former resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Pahrump; sons, Richard Cansdale of California, and David Cansdale and William Cansdale, both of New York; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 11 at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

Rita Raxach

Rita Raxach, 82, died Monday in a Henderson hospital.

She was born March 11, 1920, in Cuba. A homemaker, she was an 11-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her son, Mike Casanova of Las Vegas; daughters, Caridad Nadales of Cuba, Grisell Machin of Florida and Rosa Ramirez of Las Vegas; brother, Guillermo of Cuba; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary-Eastern. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Arthur Romero

Arthur Romero, 39, died Sunday in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born March 30, 1963, in San Gabriel, Calif. An Air Force veteran, he was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service and an 18-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his daughters, Monic and Falicia; parents, Martin and Rose Mary; brothers, Jose and Martin Jr.; all of Las Vegas; sisters, Rosie Rios of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Irene and Carmen, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary-Downtown with services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Patricia Ross

Patricia Ann Ross, 56, died Nov. 22.

She was born Dec. 31, 1945, in South Bend, Ind. A nurse and monitor technician for a hospital, she was a 23-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin and Tim; mother, Dorothy Crobarger; and brother, Frank Ulbright; all of Las Vegas.

An open house and rosary will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at 4889 W. Montara Circle. Bunkers Mortuary handled arrangements. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

John Rusk

John Allyn Rusk, 37, died Friday.

He was born Jan. 24, 1965, in Pawtucket, R.I. A Navy veteran, he was a worker for a lighting company and a five-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his mother, Carole Boucher of Las Vegas; father, John; brothers, Robert of Providence, R.I., and Thomas Jr. of Pawtucket; and grandmother, Theresa Corrigan of Stewart, Fla.

Mary Salvo

Mary Frances Salvo, 75, died Sunday.

She was born July 14, 1927, in Van Nuys, Calif., and was a resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her son, Paul Jr. of Henderson; daughter, Frances De Moss of Las Vegas; brother, Rene Bouche of Van Nuys; and a grandson.

Carmine Sandomenico

Carmine R. Sandomenico, 64, died Sunday in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born Nov. 9, 1938, in New York City. A director of corporate security for a hotel-casino and a retired police detective, he was a 23-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Dina Sandomenico-Mattson; mother, Mildred; sister, Hope McKenna; all of Las Vegas; brother, Frank of Sparks; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Palm Mortuary-Jones handled arrangements.

Edward Schwartz

Edward "Big Ed" Schwartz, 78, died Monday.

He was born May 6, 1924, in New York City. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a retired real estate broker, a seven-year resident of Las Vegas, past president of United Multiple Listing Services, Men's Club of Adat Shalom Synagogue and the Lions Club, and a member of the Elks lodge and Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Las Vegas; son, Steven of Los Angeles; brother, Milton of Bel Aire, Calif.; and sister, Goldie Heller of Irvine, Calif.

Burial will be in Los Angeles. The family requests memorial donations be made to Adat Shalom Synagogue, 3030 Westwood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90034. King David Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

Barney Sutter

Barney Sutter, 52, died Sunday in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Sacramento, Calif. The owner of an engraving business, he was a 28-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his companion, Lois Abner; stepdaughters, Sherrie Geier and Christina Beatty; all of Las Vegas; parents, Fred and Helen; brother, Mark; all of Fairfield, Calif.; and sisters, Margaret of Apex, N.C., Barbara Clark of Rio Vista, Calif., and Kathy Galindo and Suzy, both of Fairfield.

Norman Tarrants

Norman Cameron Tarrants, 68, died Saturday.

He was born April 20, 1934, in Illinois. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of National Rifle Association and a 10-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his sons, David, John and Terry; daughters, Anna and Ora; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lillian Thweatt

Lillian Mae Thweatt, 83, died Sunday.

She was born Feb. 4, 1919. A homemaker, she was a 10-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her sons, Calvin of Chickasha, Okla., and Jim of Henderson; daughters, June Massey of Beatty, Priscilla of Las Vegas and Bonnie Bruner of Henderson; brother, Jack Hudson of San Bernardino, Calif.; sister, Molly VanHose of Idabel, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Ethel Tick

Ethel Tick, 86, died Sunday.

She was born June 16, 1916, in New York. A cosmetologist, she was a 30-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her son, Jack; daughter, Barbara Hannel; both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Paradise Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mary Tietjen

Mary Tietjen, 70, died Nov. 21 at Nathan Adelson Hospice.

She was born June 26, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A PBX operator for a motel, she was a 17-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her brother, Simon Cipriano.

Burial will be in Brooklyn. Bunkers Mortuary handled arrangements.

Evelyn Viner

Evelyn Marie Viner, 66, died Saturday.

She was born June 25, 1936, in Louisville, Tenn. A homemaker, she was a 21-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her companion, Howard Appel; daughters, Lisa Rego and Karen Carter; all of Las Vegas; son, Eric of Texas; brothers, Howard Barker of California and Charles Barker of North Carolina; sisters, Rosemary Silvers of Las Vegas and Jean Claassen of New Mexico; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bunkers Mortuary and one hour before services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Christy and Harris chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow at Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Juanita Walker

Juanita Walker, 93, died Nov. 23.

She was born April 10, 1909, in Chillicothe, Texas. A homemaker, she was a 17-year resident of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Margie of Union, Maine; and a grandchild.

Ruth Winn

Ruth Prince Winn, 82, died Sunday.

She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in New Harmony, Utah. A homemaker, she was a 50-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Las Vegas Ladies Literary Club.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Verne; daughter, Verna Hayes; both of Las Vegas; sons, Donald of Las Vegas, Evan of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and George of Baker, Ore.; brother, James Prince of Tucson, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bunkers Mortuary and one hour before services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Charleston chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Leonard Yudis

Leonard J. Yudis, 67, died Wednesday in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Chicago. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired printer, a worker for an automobile dealership and a five-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Las Vegas; sons, Paul Ewing of La Porte, Ind., Norman Ewing of Seattle and Dean Ewing of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; sister, Jean Nelson of Huachuca, Ariz.; brother, Robert of Lansing, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary-Henderson.
