Fire causes damage to Chinese restaurant

REVIEW-JOURNAL

An accidental kitchen fire caused about $150,000 in damage to a Chinese restaurant late Sunday.

The blaze began about 11:27 p.m. at Tong's Palace Restaurant, 2211 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

It shut down northbound traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard at Sahara Avenue for about 90 minutes, he said.

Tong's owner said he was outside talking on the phone when the fire started, Szymanski said, adding that the restaurant was open at the time but had no customers inside.

No one was injured in the fire. Its exact cause was undetermined.
