NORM: Gerber discusses rift that never was

Rande Gerber, left, says Las Ramblas partner George Clooney, right, is not sparring with Brad Pitt.

That rumored George Clooney-Brad Pitt rift is "a total fabrication, totally bogus," says nightclub king Rande Gerber.

A celebrity Internet site reported Tuesday that Clooney and Pitt were on the outs because Pitt backed out of the $3 billion Las Ramblas resort project in Las Vegas.

A variety of sources said on Wednesday that Pitt was never on board.

When the Las Ramblas project was announced in August, Clooney was quoted as saying they were talking to Pitt about being involved in the design.

"They talked to him and that was it. It was never an issue," said Stephanie Wilson, spokeswoman for The Related, Clooney and Gerber's development partner.

According to TMZ.com, Clooney is miffed at Pitt for getting involved in a $60 million resort in Palm Springs, Calif.

Gerber, interviewed inside his nightclub, Cherry, at the new Red Rock Resort, confirmed he and Clooney are "still committed" to building in Las Vegas if the 25-acre Las Ramblas project doesn't pan out.

"Right now, we have a couple great opportunities on the table involving the property," he said. If the property is sold by The Related, "then we'll find another property to build on. If it doesn't happen on this property, it will happen somewhere else. We're definitely committed (to Las Vegas)."

Stan Rosenfield, Clooney's publicist, told the New York Post, "Any talk of friction is fiction."

Clooney and Pitt are co-starring in "Ocean's Thirteen," which will be set and shot in Las Vegas, as well as in a faux casino near Hollywood.
