SHOOTING STARS: Clooney's 'Ocean' rolls in

Some guys just can't stay away from Las Vegas.

Guys like Danny Ocean -- alias George Clooney -- who's expected in Glitter Gulch this week for one last "Ocean's Thirteen" scene.

The second sequel to the hit 2001 "Ocean's Eleven" remake wrapped last week, but additional second-unit work (without the all-star cast) is scheduled today and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, however, plans call for Clooney to shoot an additional scene at a pawn shop, according to executive producer Susan Ekins. (The movie's film permit shows a Fremont Street location -- prime pawn-shop territory.)

"Ocean's Thirteen," which made location treks here in August and September, hits theaters next June.

Fremont flashback: "Ocean's Thirteen" isn't the only project heading downtown for second-unit work this week.

CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" is expected to film flashback scenes today at Fremont Street Experience and other Glitter Gulch locations. The shoot was originally scheduled for last week.

"It's period Vegas -- we want to shoot the period look," explains producer Louis Milito. The retro-style footage will be featured in this season's ninth episode, "Living Legend."

Fox talk: Celebrating its 10th anniversary with a cross-country "Thank You America Tour," Fox News Channel plans an Oct. 30 stopover at Caesars Palace, with three shows going live. (None of the telecasts is open to the public, however.)

The 4 p.m. "Fox Report with Shepard Smith" and the 7 p.m. "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren" will originate from the Pure nightclub's roof deck, showing off the panoramic Strip view. But Smith's "Studio B" (which airs at noon) will be even closer to the Strip, in an area adjacent to the Caesars fountains.

"We've got a lot of things up our sleeve," Van Susteren says of her show, including "a Vegas news story," plus an interview with "one of the big stars" who performs on the Strip. "We might have two big stars."

Beauty blitz: The Canadian documentary series "Vanity Insanity" visits Vegas this week to explore various aspects of beauty -- and the lengths people will go to achieve it.

In addition to an interview with veteran talent agent Jaki Baskow, the show will visit two "Legends in Concert" celebrity lookalikes, according to Lisa DeVita of Vancouver-based Insight Film Studios, which produces the series for Canada's Global cable network.

Fright nights: An area haunted house serves as a suitably macabre backdrop for local filmmakers Jeremy Settles and Robert Cochrane, who plan to shoot scenes Oct. 29-31 for a trailer touting an upcoming horror feature with a tentative January start date.
