‘Tuna Does Vegas’

An oddball right-wing radio host and his wife visit Vegas to renew their wedding vows, prompting everyone else in Texas’ third-smallest town to come along, in this romp from the funny folks who brought you “Greater Tuna.” Two actors play all the characters — from Tuna Texans to showgirls — when “Tuna Does Vegas” opens at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Las Vegas Little Theatre, 3920 Schiff Drive. First Friday

Explore “Art Through the Ages” at May’s First Friday celebration, which takes place from 5 to 11 p.m. in the downtown arts district. In addition to five costumed artists painting in the style of Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo and more, members of Art Beyond the Paintbrush — featuring weavers, scribes, carvers and quilters — will interact with the crowd. Makana

Two acclaimed Hawaiian music stars join forces for the “Soul Slack Tour,” as slack key guitarist Makana teams with “modern Hawaiian soul” vocalist Paula Fuga this weekend at The Smith Center’s Cabaret Jazz. Makana made his professional debut at 14, going on to share the stage with (among others) Sting, Carlos Santana and Elvis Costello. Capathia Jenkins

Anyone who attended The Smith Center’s New Year’s Eve concert knows Broadway showstopper Capathia Jenkins (“Newsies,” TV’s “The Wiz Live!”) has a voice that can raise the roof. Music of Virko Baley

After 46 years at UNLV, Grammy-winning composer-in-residence Virko Baley retires as a full-time professor, but not before his musical colleagues celebrate his tenure — and his music — at a free “Les Adieux” concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall on campus. Among those joining the farewell party: renowned tenor John Duykers, who sang in Baley’s opera “Holodomor,” the finale of which will be performed, along with other vocal and orchestral compositions.
