Las Vegas police investigate reported kidnapping of California teen

Las Vegas police are investigating a possible kidnapping of a teenage girl that began in Southern California and ended at an off-Strip resort.

But police spokesman Bill Cassell said Wednesday night it's "too early to tell whether it's legitimate."

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Jacoby said that according to a report, a 17-year-old girl in Redlands Calif., on Tuesday willingly entered a vehicle after leaving school.

The girl, who was in the car with two suspects, was not allowed to leave the car, said Jacoby, reading from the report.

Cassell said that about 7 a.m., police were called to the Rio and told that the girl alleged to have been kidnapped was safe with resort security.

The investigation is ongoing, Cassell said.
