One person hospitalized after shooting in east Las Vegas

At least one person was shot in an east Las Vegas neighborhood Thursday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.

Police said the shooting was reported shorlty after 1 p.m. in the 4900 block of Owens Avenue, near Nellis Boulevard.

Police said the victim was “self-transported” to University Medical Center, and the extent of the injuries were unknown.

Three schools in the area, Monaco Middle School, Lynch Elementary School and Earl Elementary School, were on lockdown about an hour while police searched for the suspect.

Owens between Nellis and Marion Drive was shut down while police investigated the scene.
