Young woman dies, another hurt at party shooting in northeast valley

A young woman was shot and killed and another female was critically wounded at a northeast valley party early Sunday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Police said they learned that an argument between at least two males was followed by gunshots inside the residence. The victims did not appear to be "intended targets" and "were not involved in the altercation," they said.

The identity of the deceased young woman was not released, but a man who asked to remain anonymous said she was a senior at Desert Pines High School.

Police said that at 12:48 a.m. they responded to a party in the 4200 block of Tattersall Place, near Craig Road and Lamb Boulevard.

No suspects were immediately identified.

Anyone with information on the shootings is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
