Henderson firefighter sustains ‘moderate injury’ at scene

A firefighter was injured in an east Henderson fire Friday afternoon that displaced a family of four.

Henderson firefighters responded just after 2:30 p.m. to a house on Engel Avenue, near Pabco and Warm Springs roads.

They began fighting the blaze from inside the single-story house, but the fire grew quickly and they were forced outside until they could get it back under control, a fire department spokesman said.

None of the house’s occupants were injured, but one firefighter was treated at a hospital for what the fire department called a moderate injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Estimated damage is about $60,000.
