Police rescue Mount Charleston hiker

Las Vegas police rescued an injured hiker who went missing Wednesday night on Mount Charleston.

One of two people who went hiking in the Mary Jane Falls area suffered an injury, and the second hiker left to get help about 8:30 p.m., according to police.

Police sent out a search and rescue helicopter, but were unable to find the injured hiker. Search and rescue crews were on the ground Thursday searching the area when they found the missing person.

On July 22, Search and Rescue officer David VanBuskirk died in a fall while trying to rescue a hiker in the Mary Jane Falls area.
