Loan program helps Henderson residents replace grass

The city of Henderson is accepting applications for two loan programs that assist residents with landscape projects.

The Homeownership Enrichment Landscape Program is designed to help residents remove turf, install drought-tolerant landscape or enhance a yard that needs some landscape attention because of blighted conditions.

This is a deferred loan program for a maximum of $5,000. Residents do not need to pay back the loan until they sell their home or there is a change in ownership.

The Turf Removal Program offers a loan of up to $5,000 at 3 percent interest, amortized over a seven-year period, for residents to replace their grass with desert landscape.
