Man stabbed to death while camping at Lake Mead

A man was stabbed to death Monday night in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area while on a camping trip with friends.

The Clark County Coroner’s office identified the homicide victim as 35-year-old Michael Vincent Favazza of Henderson.

Favazza was at the lake with a woman he was dating and another man to camp and fish. Earlier in the day, Favazza and the woman had an argument and the other man intervened, Las Vegas police spokesman Bill Cassell said.

Later that night, the men began to argue and the other man stabbed Favazza in the chest, police said.

The other man immediately called the park ranger for assistance.

National Park Service officials declined to comment, saying they turned the case over to Las Vegas police.

Officials have not released the names of the woman or the second man.

Police said that the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
