No injuries in southwest Las Vegas Valley house fire

A garage fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage Monday to a home in the southwest valley, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The four family members and a dog were able to exit the Rhodes Ranch development home before firefighters arrived on the scene after 4 a.m. The fire on Fairway Woods Drive, near South Fort Apache Road and West Warm Springs Road, was put out by 4:39 a.m. There were no injuries, fire department spokesman Erik Newman said.

A resident of the home awoke just before 4 a.m. to see a yellow-orange light outside her bedroom window, realized it was a fire in the garage below her room and alerted the rest of her family.

Damage from the fire extended into the floor space between the garage and second story, Newman said. The smoke detectors in the home did not activate.
