Northern Nevada inmate dies after being hospitalized

A 62-year-old inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center died Monday, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Christopher Sevey died at Carson Tahoe Hospital. He had been hospitalized due to a chronic medical condition, officials said.

Sentenced in Washoe County, Sevey was serving 15 years for robbery and kidnapping. He was set to serve a consecutive sentence of five additional years to life with the possibility of parole for kidnapping, sexual assault and robbery with the use of a deadly weapon enhancement. He had been incarcerated in Nevada since 1985.

An autopsy will be conducted.
