Rain helped firefighters increase containment of several wildfires covering a combined 33 square miles in remote rangeland in eastern Nevada and southwestern Utah.
No homes or other structures were threatened by the 9,100-acre Lages Fire which was nearing containment about 60 miles north of Ely — or from a trio of fires northeast and southeast of Panaca, and southwest of Enterprise Reservoir in Utah.
BLM spokeswoman Jesse Bender said firefighters were pulled from a trio of lightning-sparked fires dubbed the MCG Complex before heavy rain set in Monday.
She reported 60 percent containment of the approximately 10,300-acre Middle Ridge Fire, 80 percent containment of the 1,127-acre Cottonwood Fire and 95 percent containment of the 761-acre Greek Peak Fire in Utah.
