Saturday groundbreaking scheduled for two new Henderson parks

Henderson officials and representatives of Inspirada Builders LLC will join in a 61-shovel groundbreaking ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday to signify the start of construction on the city’s two newest parks.

Mayor Andy Hafen is among those who plan to attend the event, which also will recognize the 61st birthday of Nevada’s second-largest city.

Inspirada Builders will construct Capriola Park and Potenza Park at an estimated cost of $10.5 million and then donate them to the city of Henderson, which will operate and maintain them. Officials expect the parks to be complete by the end of summer.

KB Home has a majority interest in Inspirada Builders, whose other members are Pardee Homes, Toll Brothers and Beazer Homes.

Remarks will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the future site of Capriola Park, at the southwest corner of Via Firenze and Beltrada Avenue in the master-planned Inspirada community.

Capriola Park will be a 13-acre community park and will feature lighted multi-use fields, a one-acre dog park, basketball courts, tennis courts, a splash pad, and play areas.

Potenza Park will be a five-acre neighborhood park that will include picnic areas, a skate plaza, two basketball courts, a children’s play area, a pool area, two family ramadas with picnic areas and open grass areas.

Inspirada is currently home to more than 2,500 residents.
