Three new columns to debut on RJ Nevada section cover in September

The Las Vegas Review-Journal will debut three new columns on its Nevada section cover next month.

Wayne Allyn Root will re-join the Review-Journal as a columnist, appearing on the Nevada cover every Wednesday and Sunday beginning Sept. 7, Editor-in-Chief Keith Moyer announced Friday.

Root previously wrote a column for the RJ in 2010. Root, a Henderson resident, is a small-businessman, home-school dad, national media personality and television producer. He hosts the Las Vegas-based talk radio program “WAR Now: The Wayne Allyn Root Show” on KBET-AM, 790, from 6 to 7 p.m. weeknights and works as a political commentator on conservative talk radio stations around the country. He appears regularly on shows on Fox News Channel and on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

“We’re happy to add Wayne Allyn Root’s take on politics and life to our Nevada page each Wednesday and Sunday,” Moyer said. “Wayne’s uniquely conservative voice will add balance to the many other fine columns that appear in the Review-Journal.”

Root, the author of such best-sellers as “The Ultimate Obama Survival Guide,” “The Murder of the Middle Class,” “Millionaire Republican” and “The Power of Relentless,” releases his latest book, “Angry White Male” on Tuesday.

“What an honor to be joining the Las Vegas Review-Journal as a columnist,” said Root, the Libertarian Party’s nominee for vice president in 2008. “My columns will be for blue-collar butchers, bakers, cops, small-business owners and anyone who believes in the American Dream and the things that made America great.”

Additionally, Review-Journal education reporters Ana Ley and Neal Morton will write an every-other-Saturday education beat notes column. The column, which will debut Sept. 10, will address current issues and happenings in both K-12 education and Nevada’s higher education system.

On alternate Saturdays, starting Sept. 17, police reporter Rachel Crosby will write a crime beat notes column.

RJ Metro columnist Paul Harasim will continue to tell stories about Southern Nevada and its people on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. His Sunday column will remain on the Nevada cover with Root’s column.

Jane Ann Morrison’s column will remain on Thursdays.

And transportation reporter Art Marroquin’s Road Warrior column will continue to appear on Mondays.

“These new columns will give the Review-Journal’s readers a variety of voices on the issues that are important to them every day of the week,” Moyer said.
