Dion twins take steps, visit Strip

That roar of excitement coming from Celine Dion's Lake Las Vegas home is music to her ears.
Twin sons Nelson and Eddy, who celebrated their first birthdays Oct. 23, are walking on their own and giving a trio of nannies "a real workout," said Dion's husband and manager, Rene Angelil.
Their unassisted first steps came a couple of days after the New Year, he said.
Two days later, the twins took a rare trip to the Strip for a family photo to mark the 20th anniversary of Disney's blockbuster animated classic "Beauty and the Beast" and its upcoming release in 3-D.
The "Beauty and the Beast" family photo holds special meaning for Dion and her family. It was a magical time for the French-Canadian phenom.
Less than a year earlier she had her first Top 10 hit -- "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" -- but her "Beauty and the Beast" soundtrack duet with Peabo Bryson represents the true breakthrough, Angelil said.
"This was the song that made her known to the world," he added.
"Beauty and the Beast" took Oscars for best original song and best original score.
"She sang it at the Oscars on her 24th birthday, March 30, 1992. Her parents were in the audience. It was one of the terrific moments for her," Angelil said.
Nothing like an Oscar to take your career to another level.
She has performed at five Academy Awards.
When she returned to Las Vegas in March for her new show at Caesars Palace, Dion made sure "Beauty and the Beast" was on the song list.
THE SCENE AND HEARD
Miss District of Columbia Ashley Boalch, in a video on the Miss America website, said pageant organizers told her she couldn't wear a Washington Capitals baseball cap anymore. Washingtonian Shane Tews, in town for the International Consumer Electronics Show, had a comeback. "Can they make her a Caps tiara?"...
That was the least of problems for the image-conscious pageant this week. The hits keep coming for Kris Jenner of the hit TV reality show series, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." She's dealing with allegations by her late husband's two ex-wives. She's dismissing a report that ex-wives of her late husband, O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Kardashian, told them Khloe Kardashian was not his biological daughter. In the interview with Star magazine, one of the ex-wives, Ellen Kardashian, said Bruce Jenner's ex-wife Chrystie said she left him because he was a cross-dresser. TMZ.com reported on Thursday that when Robert was seeking to annul his marriage to his second wife, Jan Ashley, in 1999, he submitted a declaration to the judge stating that the marriage failed because Ashley wanted to have a child and he did not. In the declaration, Kardashian said, "I decided that since I already had four biological children, and I did not wish to have any more."...
Maybe Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor should have gotten married on a Las Vegas roller coaster. She's been through nothing but ups and downs since her Dec. 8 pink Cadillac chapel wedding. Three weeks later, she confirmed the marriage had gone off the rails 18 days later, after she ended up buying drugs, to the utter horror of her husband Barry Herridge, a drug counselor. Then came news they were reconciling. This week, it got darker. She told her Twitter followers on Thursday that she had taken an overdose of pills a week ago and she needed a psychiatrist.
