Republican VP nominee Mike Pence to visit Henderson
August 14, 2016 - 4:09 pm
Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence will make a campaign stop in Henderson this week.
The Indiana governor is scheduled to hold a town hall event at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St. Doors open at 11 a.m.
The town hall is open to the public, but those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP through Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s website at www.donaldjtrump.com/schedule.
Wednesday’s stop will mark Pence’s second visit to the Silver State this month. Pence headlined campaign rallies in Carson City and Reno on Aug. 1.
The Carson City rally made news when Catherine Byrne, the Carson City mother of a U.S. Air Force serviceman was booed when she criticized Trump’s comments that she said disrespected parents of a Muslim U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Kahn who died in combat in Iraq.
Pence asked the crowd to quiet down, and said of Byrne, “That’s what freedom looks like. That’s what freedom sounds like.”
“Capt. Khan is an American hero, and we honor him and his family as we do all military families.”
