Artis, Shepard fuel Findlay Prep to runaway win


Dominic Artis scored 19 points and Winston Shepard had 17 to carry the Findlay Prep basketball team to a 55-39 win over Thurgood Marshall (Ohio) in the Flyin to the Hoop Invitational on Friday at Trent Arena in Kettering, Ohio.

Artis, a senior point guard who has signed with Oregon, made 7 of 8 free throws for Findlay Prep (16-1), which shot 16-for-18 at the foul line.

The Cougars pulled to within 38-36 in the third quarter, but the Pilots ran away in the fourth with a 17-3 spurt.

Shepard, a senior forward, added six rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Nigel Williams-Goss and Brandon Ashley had six points each for Findlay Prep.

Mark Alstork had 16 points and five rebounds to lead Thurgood Marshall.
