Cesarz sparks Lady Rebels past San Jose State

Alana Cesarz scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Wednesday night to lead UNLV to a 90-76 Mountain West women’s basketball victory over San Jose State at Cox Pavilion.

Cesarz made 11 of 15 shots, including all five 3-point attempts, to help put the Lady Rebels (9-11, 6-2 MW) in a tie for second place in the conference standings. UNLV and Boise State are each a game behind first-place Colorado State (7-1).

The Lady Rebels bounced back from a 70-52 loss at Fresno State on Saturday, which ended a five-game winning streak, by shooting 45.5 percent against San Jose State (8-12, 2-7). Including Cesarz, four UNLV players scored in double figures.

Danielle Miller totaled 15 points, and Amie Callaway and Aley Rohde each had 11. Rmanii Haynes finished with 11 assists.

This the only meeting between the teams. The Mountain West is playing an unbalanced, 11-team, 18-game schedule.

UNLV has dominated this series in Las Vegas, leading 17-0.
