Nevada Fishing Report, Feb. 4, 2016

• LAKE MEAD — Striper fishing was slow this past week. Fishermen pulled some striped bass from depths of about 100-140 feet. Shad have been the most productive bait when they can be caught. Jigging spoons and trolling with downriggers also have caught fish. Some anglers have been catching black bass from depths of about 40 feet using jigs and drop-shot rigs.

• LAKE MOHAVE — The lone fish being reported are striped bass. Fishermen have caught fish as large as 8 pounds out of Cottonwood Cove using boats early in the morning. Fishing from a boat near Willow Beach has proven successful for stripers as well. Swimbaits and top-water lures have been catching fish.

• LAUGHLIN — Trout fishing is good along the Colorado River. PowerBait, night crawlers and spinners are bringing in rainbow trout. Some anglers have limited out at Davis Camp, with fish ranging from planter size to as large as 20 inches. Action is slow for striped bass and catfish. Sunshine Peninsula has been a good spot to catch them.

• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Barring unforeseen problems, such as strong winter storm systems, the local ponds are due to be stocked this week. The few reports that have come in state that trout are taking PowerBait and mealworms, along with small spinners and spoons.

• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Winter storms dropped up to 7 inches of snow, making getting around difficult without 4-wheel drive. One group of anglers did well through about 5 inches of ice. The fishermen caught their limit of rainbow trout using worms on jigs, along with chartreuse and glitter Power Eggs.

• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Ice and snow came in abundance over the weekend. The ice remains between 10 and 24 inches thick across most of the reservoir. Those few brave souls who have ventured out on the ice have found good fishing with night crawlers and PowerBait.

• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — This remains one of the region's most underutilized waters, with few anglers being seen on the reservoir. Ice conditions are good following the storm system that passed through over the weekend.
