England’s Benny Glaser becomes latest two-time winner at WSOP

Benny Glaser of Southampton, England, captured his second bracelet at this year’s World Series of Poker, as he won the $10,000 buy-in Omaha Hi-Low/8 or Better event Wednesday at the Rio Convention Center.

Glaser, a 27-year-old professional poker player, joins Jason Mercier and Ian Johns as two-time bracelet winners this summer. It is Glaser’s third career WSOP bracelet, the most by anyone from Great Britain.

Glaser pocketed $407,194 for the victory, bringing his career WSOP earnings to $860,874 from his six cashes.

“It feels amazing right now,” Glaser told reporters. “I think it will take some time to set in, for sure. It’s just been a crazy week of grinding and focusing, so now I’ll get some time to enjoy it.”

Doug Lorgeree of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, was second and earned $251,665. Veteran poker pro Matt Glantz, still looking for his first career WSOP bracelet, finished third ($175,754).

The tournament drew 163 entrants for a prize pool of $1,532,200, with the top 25 finishers getting paid.

It was the second straight Omaha Hi-Low/8 or Better tournament title for Glaser. He also finished first in the $1,500 buy-in event that ended early Sunday.
