Kings complete improbable comeback

History was made in San Jose on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Sharks 5-1 in Game 7 of their NHL Western Conference first round playoff series to complete an improbable comeback from a 3-0 deficit.

Los Angeles actually had to come back in the decisive game as well after the Sharks scored first.

The Kings scored the next five, including two empty netters as San Jose reached desperation time.

It was only the fourth time in league history a team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series.

Toronto came back to beat Detroit in 1942. The New York Islanders rallied to win four straight over Pittsburgh in 1975. Most recently, Philadelphia did the trick against Boston in 2010.

The victory sets up a Southern California showdown between the Kings and Anaheim Ducks in the next round.
